Ignite your creative spark by joining us this summer for the best music camp in 2022 in the Kansas City metropolitan area! The Ignition Camp is hosted by Art As Mentorship, a non-profit focused on bringing music and opportunity to kids in Kansas City.
Our Ignition Camp spans the gap between seasoned young musicians and those who have never picked up an instrument– the only requirement is a passion for music and a positive attitude!
The Ignition Camp marries learning with real-world experience, as the kids enrolled in the program will actually form bands over the course of the camp. The students come together to form bands, write original music and perform at our Youth Summer Concert!
The story behind the Ignition Camp | Summer Music Camp 2022
Art As Mentorship exists to give underprivileged and immigrant youth access to resources they wouldn’t have otherwise. Although similar to the Rebel Song Academy, our core program, the Ignition Camp is designed to be shorter, more accessible, and spark passion.
Through musical and creative exploration, the Ignition Camp teaches life skills, accessible mental health practices, and lifelong values to help every child grow. At the Ignition Camp, we invite and encourage every child to share their story through music, an opportunity they may not get elsewhere!
An experience for all ages and skill levels
Absolutely no experience is needed to sign up for our Ignition Camp! A great environment for the seasoned to grow and the curious to begin, the Ignition Camp is for everyone. As the students form bands throughout the camp, students with higher skill levels will blend with those just starting—creating perfectly balanced bands and strong, lasting friendships!
Open to kids ages 12 to 18, this summer music camp in Kansas City gives all kids the opportunity to grow their music skills! With one-on-one mentorship from instructors, as well as the support of bandmates, the Ignition Camp is the best summer music camp in 2022!
Upcoming dates in 2022
As 2022 comes around, the Ignition Camp is once again open for enrollment! Our summer music camp is four days long, and runs June 6- June 11th, Monday – Thursday, from 9 am to 3 pm. In 2022, our camp will be held at the Kansas City Museum, a beautiful and open space located at 3218 Gladstone Blvd, Kansas City, MO.
Our end of the year Youth Summer Concert is the perfect mix of light and fun family time, as well as a great way to show off newfound skills, friendships, and, of course, brand-new music! Open to all, the Youth Summer Concert is an explosive end to the camp, and surely a memorable summer experience for everyone.

Our programs, the Ignition Camp included, are all offered free or at a low fee, depending on the needs of the student. As is the case for all our music camps for kids in Kansas City, the Ignition Camp caters to high schoolers and kids from ages 12-19. However, there are no set age cutoffs and exceptions have been made in the past for those seeking to join our programs. How can I support Art As Mentorship’s programs?
The best way to support Art As Mentorships in our endeavor to bring resources, opportunity, and programs to children in underprivileged areas is to donate. Donations are never required, but always appreciated and put to good use. Any amount can make a difference. All the money donated to Art As Mentorship goes directly back to the students and young musicians enrolled in our music camps.
Will the Ignition Camp make me the next Beyoncé?
The goal of the Ignition Camp is not to make anyone famous, but rather to teach them the life and music skills they need to create their own music and shape their life for the better. While being famous is nice, we prioritize our students becoming more rounded and skilled individuals. However, it is true that the qualities Art As Mentorship encourages and helps nourish do set the foundation for higher achievement.

We are lucky to have many incredible locations for our camps, including a recording studio at InterUrban Art House, Deep Space Cooperative, a video studio located at Lifted Logic, and office spaces.
